I too was sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I remember Doug and Connie teaching our Sabbath School classes so long ago and the fun we all had as young children with all the special events, outings and sharing they planned during our young impressionable years. That has always remained a warm reminder of how much they care/d for all.

Doug always treated me like family, and as his best friend. His mentoring of me began in 1997 when I was truly struggling to become not only a better lawyer, but a bettter husband, father and friend. Doug showed me how!!!! I can honestly say that Doug's interest in my little Desert Firm and his help with my cases, changed my life and the lives of my wife and two children. I loved Doug and I will truly miss him. I Pray for peace for all of the Weliber family. I am certain that my friend Doug is at peace and with Christ. I know I will see Doug again.
I am available to assist the Weliber's in any way possible.
God Bless,
Tony Caronna

John & Doug - still friends after the Stringfellow trial!

In the early 90s, Doug and I spent countless hours together, first preparing for the Stringfellow Acid Pits trial and then actually trying the case over the course of nine months. Throughout that stressful and frenetic period, much of it late at night, Doug remained always the gentleman, always the calming presence, always the consummate professional. As others have recounted, Doug was a caring, ethical, skilled, and universally-respected attorney a mentor who showed me how its done right in the courtroom. His passing is a shock and a great loss both to me and to the California Bar.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Doug Welebir. I was a young associate at Milberg Weiss and worked on Stringfellow with Doug. He was an excellent example of a lawyer to us younger lawyers. He encouraged us on a very difficult case to represent our clients zealously, to be professional at all times and to never give up in our representation of the Glen Avon community. I will remember Doug most for his humor and kindness. I know in heaven that Doug and Anita Laing are enjoying a fine meal while debating litigation strategy.

Doug Welebir was one of the kindest people I have ever met. If it hadn't been for him I never would have gotten my job at Anderson Clinical Research and been able to meet and work with his wife and family. He will be sorely missed here on earth, but Heaven has surely gained yet another treasure!❤

I am shocked and saddened by this news. I will remember Doug by his humor, grace, and generous spirit during our long hours working on the Stringfellow case. And he remained squeaky-clean-never a cuss word! He was remarkable in many ways. My condolences to those who loved him.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Doug. To his family and friends I send my deepest condolences. Doug was our trial attorney in the Stringfellow case. His legal skills and professionalism provided by Doug was superlative but it was Dougs caring, compassion, respect for his clients and his quick wit and warm smile that drew us all to him. Doug was our champion who never gave up. He encouraged us, held our hand through rough times and was the first to celebrate our victories. Despite the massive opposition that the 250 major corporations launched at us, he stood strong. He touch all our lives and will be greatly missed.

Although I have not had much contact with Doug for many years, I counted him a true friend of mine at Loma Linda Academy (high-school) where we both attended. He was always such a friendly, likeable person. As a fellow attorney I have had occasional contact with him over the years and have been impressed with his many professional achievements. My condolence to his wife Connie.
