Sharon and Mark,
I had your dad for my 4th, 5th, and 6th grade science teacher at Weston Elementary in Elkhart, IN in the mid 1950's. He and Mr. Mellish (Social Studies teacher), were the most innovative teachers I have ever experienced. I still remember many of his lessons because they were always hands-on projects. His enthusiasm was boundless!
I also remember walking home for lunch down the same street and chatting away, which was a real treat!. Eventually, Sharon, you joined us. I remember how excited we were when Mark was born. It was soon afterward that your family moved to California. I recently reconnected with Mr. Mellish in Elkhart and fully intended to write your dad a letter of joyful appreciation. I'm sorry I missed that opportunity. I am now a retired teacher with a love for teaching science and social studies.
Your dad was truly an inspiration to all the lives he touched. I'm so glad he touched mine.

I am terribly sorry to lose a great and cherished friend. As I promised Henry, I will always knock twice on the grave marker
when I visit.

I did not know your Father personally, but I feel like I did. I am Jim's sister from Pennsylvania and I knew of Henry from Jim speaking of their many breakfast times together. I know Jim will miss that special time but Henry will never be forgotten by his breakfast buddy. Please accept my sincerest sympathy to all your family members.
