Karen Packer Obituary

Karen left this world on January 21, 2023. She was born Karen Hamilton to Paul and Jeanne Hamilton on September 24, 1937 in Wenatchee, Washington. Raised in Ephrata, Washington along with her two younger brothers Kris and Kent. Their family enjoyed camping, boating and waterskiing. Karen met a cute Airman named Robert "Bob" Packer. Rumor has it that his new yellow Mercury caught her attention first and not long after she fell in love with Bob. Within the span of nine years, they were married, had four children, Bob earned his degree, and the family moved to California. They started a small motorcycle salvage business which eventually became a thriving dealership. It was clear to see that Bob and Karen were more than husband and wife; they were true partners, soul mates, and best friends. Karen enjoyed many family camping trips and motorcycle adventures, mostly to Baja, California. They eventually built a house in Playa, Mexico. Over the next 40 years, 5 generations of the family created cherished memories in the "Baja House". Karen was very involved with her church and served in many capacities. Notably, a leader in the girls camp program. where she taught first aid and camping skills. After retiring, she and Bob served on a mission for their church in Oaxaca, Mexico. She was kind, brave, intelligent, generous, and loving. Karen loved her family, word games, looking for shells and sea glass, crafting, hiking, swimming and she was a first class floater. She leaves behind her husband, Bob, and her children Shawn (Jane), Colin (Julie), Kim (Carmen), Sheila (Mark), and her brother Kris (Jean). Also, 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. To say she will be missed does not convey the impact that her passing has on the family, but they take solace in knowing that they will one day be reunited Service: Saturday Feb 4, 10:00 AM LDS Church, 6525 Sapphire, Alta Loma, CA
