PAULA CHANDLER Obituary
PAULA CHANDLER (March 7, 1928 - September 12, 2010) Paula Del Wolf Chandler, wife of Paul Chandler for over fifty-six years and mother of three sons, David of Highland, California, Robert of Salem, Oregon, and Michael of Apple Valley, California, passed away on the early evening hours of Sunday, September 12. She was eighty-two years old. She had suffered a stroke the previous Tuesday from which she could not recover. Her grateful family was with her at Loma Linda University Medical Center when she departed from temporal life on earth to eternal life in heaven. She is survived by daughters-in-law, Sue Chandler, Andrea Chandler, and Lisa Chandler, as well as her seven grandchildren - Deborah, Jonathan, Colin, Antonia, Andrew, Daniel and Stephen Chandler. Born in Santa Rosa, California, on March 7, 1928, she graduated from San Bernardino High School before attending UCLA. Having earned a Bachelor's degree in Business, she served as a Department of Army Civilian secretary to the Deputy Commanding General of the Far East Command in Japan. It was there that she met Paul, who was serving in the U.S. Army. They were married in Middletown, Missouri, December 28, 1954, and moved with their three boys to Highland in 1963. Paula, along with her husband, Paul, was a faithful member of The Highland Congregational Church. There she directed the Kiddie Karousel Pre-School and Day Care Program for twenty-one years, teaching generations of Highland's young residents. During this time, she also worked as bookkeeper of the Baseline's Laundry and Dry Cleaners, of which Paul was owner. With her husband, Paula was active in the Boy Scouts of America and Rotary International's RV Club. She was also a long standing member of the Highland Women's Club. To many, Paula was a good friend. To hundredss of children that are now grateful adults, she was a wonderful mentor. To her grandchildren, she was the loving and seemingly inseparable second half to Grandpa and Grandma Chandler. To her sons' wives, she was a marvelous example of dedication to be followed. To her sons, no words can describe the lifelong impact she had on their lives and how desperately she will be missed. To her husband, Paula was everything he could have ever hoped for as his life's partner, companion, and best friend in the world. She will be greatly missed by us all, but her posterity and the many lives she touched will cherish her legacy for generations to come. Her remains have been cremated and interred at Riverside National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 16 at 3:00 P.M. at The Highland Congregational Church, located at 3606 Atlantic Ave. in Highland. All who knew and respected this remarkable woman are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to a memorial fund established in Paula's memory at the Highland Congregational Church.
