René Mella Obituary

RENÉ J. MELLA Nov. 14, 1960 July 13, 2021 René was born to Major Ralph and Rita Mella on Nov. 14, 1960 in Abilene, Texas. She moved with her family to San Bernardino in July 1966 when her father was sent to Vietnam. She attended Pacific High School and Valley College. René also spent many years riding her motorcycle in Devore and in the mountains. René was known for her life-long love and caring for animals. She had Woodstock the raccoon, the parrot, the twin goats, two peacocks, geese, ducks, chickens, rabbits, two cockatiels that would eat with the cats, a pig, several horses and many dogs. René lost her father Major Ralph Mella in July 1977. She is survived by her mother Rita J. Mella; sisters Gigi Coker of Dallas, Texas, Vicki (Steve) Dillingham of San Diego, Rochelle (Rocky) of Petaluma, Concetta of Alaska, and Bernadette of Nevada; brother Robert of San Bernardino; nephews Zak, Avery, and Alex; and nieces Annie, Nancy, Deb, Stacy, McCall and Monroe. Please join us for a celebration of her life on Nov. 14 at 2:00 pm at Legion Post #777, 194 E. 40th St., San Bernardino 92404. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Humane Society of San Bernardino, 374 W. Orange Show Road, San Bernardino 92408 in René's honor.
