Carl Minchhoff Obituary
Born in Pottsville, July 22, 1918, he was a son of the late Francis and Mathilda Marx Minchhoff.
He attended Pottsville High School and proudly served his country in the Army during World War II.
Carl was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.
He was a union carpenter working for several firms in the area, spending most of his years as foreman at Snyder & Davis Contracting, Pottsville.
Carl enjoyed hunting in his younger days and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn G. Minchhoff, on Nov. 26, 2014, and to whom he was married 54 years; a son, Carl Jr.; a daughter, Maureen; sisters, Mathilda and Teresa; brothers, John, Francis, Christopher, Eugene, George and Paul.
Carl is survived by a daughter, Nannette C. Leganza, wife of Thomas, Pine Grove; sons, Anthony M. Minchhoff, husband of Lynn, Parryville, Christopher F. Minchhoff, husband of Deb, Tamaqua, and Lamar M. Minchhoff, husband of Margaret, Pottsville; grandchildren, Carla, Christine, Melissa, Tommy, Matthew, Elizabeth, Michael, Carly and Mark; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services with military honors will be held in St. John No. 2 Cemetery, Pottsville. Lord-Bixler Funeral Home Inc., Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lordbixler.com.

My deepest sympathy to the Minchhoff family. Lots of good memories growing up in the Alley and spending time with you all. You were fortunate to have a man like Carl as your father. When my parents got divorced and we moved to Pottsville , my father was not around and Mr. Minchhoff was very kind to me and my brothers. He was big and tough looking , but he had a warm and gentle smile. We were trouble makers to be sure, but I never misbehaved when Mr. Minchhoff was around and not because of fear, but out of respect for a genuine honest too goodness Father. Some people demand respect and others earn it. Mr. Minchhoff earned it. In fact if I could have picked one of the many good Fathers from Yorkville and specifically Myers Alley to be mine... it would have been Mr. Minchhoff.
