Edward Bross Obituary

Edward F. "Ed" Bross Sr., 90, formerly of Millersville, entered into rest Tuesday evening at HCR-ManorCare, Bethlehem.

Born August 30, 1927 in Mahanoy City, he was a son of the late John J. and Nora F. Ryan Bross.

He was the husband of Virginia "Ginny" A. Zecher Bross. They were married May 21, 1949.

Ed attended Franklin & Marshall College and was employed by RCA/GE for 33 years as a manager of employee relations activities at plants in Lancaster, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Somerville, N.J. He retired from the Somerville plant in 1988.

A devout Catholic, Ed was an active member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Lancaster, where he was a member and past president of the Guys & Dolls, the Men's Club and actively engaged in parish activities. Ed was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church on Cabbage Hill. Ed faithfully attended the daily Mass. He was an active life member of Knights of Columbus Council 867, Lancaster, where he called Bingo.

A proud Navy veteran, Ed had served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43 and the Millersville/ Manor Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7294.

Ed had been active for many years as an amateur and high school sports official in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and had umpired in the Millersville Church League and other local slow-pitch softball leagues from 1988 until 2004.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Margaret M. Boyle, John J. Bross and CWO Joseph E. Bross.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Ginny, are two daughters, Debra, married to Gregg Babcock, The Villages, Fla., and Eileen Tucker, Fruitland Park, Fla.; son, Edward F. Bross Jr., married to Karen, Palmer Township; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday from St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603. Interment will be held in the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, with military honors. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial remembrances can be made in Ed's memory to the "Ramey Fund" c/o Knights of Columbus 867, 1757 New Danville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603.
