Edward Kuperavage Obituary

Edward P. Kuperavage, 75, of Port Carbon, passed away Monday at home.

Born in New Philadelphia, May 26, 1935, he was a son of the late Adam and Esther Penkauskas Kuperavage.

He was an independent miner, then worked for Reading Anthracite Co. and then K&K Coal Co. until he retired.

He served as a sergeant in the Army in Korea.

He was a member of the former St. Casimir Lithuanian Church, Saint Clair.

He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who also enjoyed hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son and two brothers, Bernard and Leonard Kuperavage.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Gladys J. Geiger Kuperavage, Port Carbon; daughters, Theresa Covely and her husband, Wayne, Saint Clair, Christine Zanis and her husband, Steve, and Elaine McDonald and her husband, Brian, all of Pottsville; sons, Edward Kuperavage and his wife, Chris, and Michael Kuperavage and his wife, Tammy, all of Port Carbon; 11 grandchildren; two great-grand-children; four brothers, Joseph Kuperavage, Port Carbon, Ronald Kuperavage, Tuscarora, Albert Kuperavage, Ashland, and Robert Kuperavage, Port Carbon; four sisters, Mildred Harris, Pottsville, Darlene Saunders, Schuylkill Haven, Eleanor Carr, Buck Run, and Geraldine Kuperavage, Port Carbon; two sisters-in-law, Marie Kuperavage, Cumbola, and Florence Kuperavage, Port Carbon; nieces and nephews; an aunt and an uncle; cousins.

A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon, with Deacon John Setlock officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, Port Carbon.
