Edward Wittic Obituary

Edward J. (Witek) Wittic, 91, of Whitehall, formerly of Shenandoah, passed away Wednesday morning at the Whitehall Manor Assisted Living Center.

Born in Shenandoah, Oct. 13, 1918, he was a son of the late Casper and Albina Tokarcz Witek.

Edward was a decorated veteran of World War II and served in the Army where he earned the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.

He worked for many years in the construction business before retirement.

Edward was a member of St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church, a life member of the Polish American Fire Company and the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens, all of Shenandoah.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, the former Elsie C. Kruczek, in 2004; three sisters, Mary Donovan, Anna Zaremba and Helen Kolavage; and one brother, Walter Wittic.

Surviving are two sons, Edward Witek, and his wife, Denise, Whitehall, and Kenneth Witek, and his wife, Valentina, Chester Springs; a daughter, Gloria Maley, and her husband, James, Emmaus; four grandchildren, Jamie Maley, and his wife, Shelley, Allentown, Cindy Drouhard, and her husband, Lonnie, Corvallis, Ore., Erik Witek, Lakewood, Colo., and AmyLyn Kelly, and her husband, Michael, Littleton, Colo.; four great-grandchildren, Samara Drouhard, Kaitlyn Maley and Carson and Collin Kelly; two sisters, Loretta Zeminski, Shenandoah, and Charlotte DiCasimirro, New Boston; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 23 at St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church, Shenandoah, with the Rev. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. There will be no calling hours on Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Chapel Fund, c/o 108 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, is in charge of arrangements.

Ken, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. When I lost my Dad it was very hard for me. I remembered the good times we had together and all the advice he used to give me wether I wanted it or not. I'm sure you will miss him and in time it will get better.
