Elizabeth T. "Betty" Richards, 82, of Shenandoah, passed away Wednesday, March 31, at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.
Born in Shenandoah on Sept. 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Jones and Alice Hopkins. Betty attended the former J.W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah and worked as a pharmacy technician for several years. She enjoyed reading, shopping, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Betty was preceded by her husband, Roy D. Richards (2015); one daughter, Carol Eyster; one brother, Davey Jones; and two sisters, Blondie and Jeanie Houser.
Surviving are four sons, Roy (Sherry) Richards, Bechtelsville, Paul (Sheila) Richards, Oneida, Daniel (Julie) Richards, Missouri, and Robert (Kathleen) Richards, Shenandoah; one brother, Mickey Jones, Shenandoah; two sisters, Mary Mathias, New Jersey, and Kathy O'Malley, Levittown; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews survive.
A visitation for family and friends will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., 40 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Scripture services will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home and will be officiated by Father Dominic Pham. Interment will follow in Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua.
