Ernest Krause Obituary
Born in Summit Station in April 1925, he was a son of the late Milton and Minnie Peiffer Krause.
Henny served in the Navy during World War II, being honorably discharged in 1946 as an aviation ordnanceman second class. He spent some years working in the coal mines, and retired as a machine operator from the Exxon Mobil film plant.
He was a member of Hetzel's U.C.C. Church, a life member of the Rock Fish & Game Club and the Friedensburg Fish & Game Club, American Legion Post 374, and the AMVETS. An avid hunter and fisherman, Henny made numerous hunting trips out west and fishing trips to Canada in his earlier days. His home was filled with hunting trophies.
In addition to his parents, Henny was preceded in death by his brother, Leo, sisters, Helen Moyer and Joyce Dowling, and granddaughter, Jacqueline Butler.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Fern Schwartz Krause, now of Schoolyard Square, Pine Grove; daughter, Sandy (Keith) Thomas, Rock; sons, Ronald (Bonnie), Rock, and Donald, Pine Grove; granddaughter, Jennifer (Josh) Drey; and great-grandson, Axel Drey, Rock. He is also survived by brothers, Gifford, Myerstown, and Sterling, Birdsboro; and sisters, Verna Hunt, Ambler, and Lorraine Siemons, Enola; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service including interment at the church cemetery, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hetzel's Church, 261 Hetzel's Church Road, Pine Grove, with the Rev. Dr. Jill Bierwirth presiding. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hetzel's U.C.C. Church, 261 Hetzel's Church Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963, or to the Greater Berks Food Bank, 117 Morgan Drive, Reading, PA 19608. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove, is in charge of the arrangements.
