Eugene Bushick, 63, of Park Place, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, at his residence.
Gene was born March 19, 1958, in Park Place, a son of the late Helen (Little) and Eugene Francis Bushick.
He graduated from Mahanoy Area High School, Class of 1975, and attained a Bachelor's of History degree at Kings College.
Gene was a scoutmaster, Teener League coach, Biddy Basketball coach and was also the fifth- and sixth-grade girls' all stars coach. He was also a high school basketball coach at MMI, Minersville and the former Cardinal Brennan. He was second lieutenant in the ROTC in college. He was a member of American Legion. Gene loved the Eagles and Phillies. He could always be found in his back yard. When he was in high school, he and his cousin had a band called The Polka Boy's.
He worked for Forrester Environmental Co., McAdoo. Prior to that, he worked for Seitz Bros., Hometown. He was also a substitute teacher in Hazleton, Tamaqua or wherever he was needed.
Gene was the husband of Laura (Schock).
Eugene is survived by a daughter, Loretta, wife of Daniel Beshai, of North Carolina; by brothers-in-law, Jeff Schock and his companion, Michelle, David Schock and his wife, Denise, Ray Schock and his wife, Lisa, and Dwight Schock; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gene was preceded in death by a son, Eugene II, in 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, with the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating. Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery, Mahanoy City. Louis D. I am sorry for the loss of your dear husband and father. I went to Saint Casimir’s School with Eugene. I remember how well he performed in our talent shows. His memory will live in my heart forever.
