Frank Heedles Obituary


August 3, 2013

Frank J. Heedles, 88, of Primrose, Cass Township, died Saturday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center–East Norwegian Street.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late Francis and Virginia Cary Heedles.

He was a graduate of St. John Preparatory High School, Brooklyn. He attended St. Joseph Seminary, Princeton, before entering the Army during World War II. He served as a medic in the Pacific Theater. Frank was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until retiring.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Minersville, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and assisted with collection efforts. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brooklyn.

He had also been active for many years as a Boy Scout leader.

Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, the former Theresa Cox, on Sept. 23, 2010.

He is survived by two children, Ann Darlene O'Dell (Michael), Houston, Texas, and Jeffrey Heedles (Joanne), Hockley, Texas; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Walzauck (Frank), Wallington, N.J.; and his devoted niece, Sheryle, and her three children.

Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 9:45 a.m. Friday morning at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury St., Minersville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury St., Minersville. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, East Hanover Township.

I loved talking to both Frank and Theresa about Medjugorie.
I have always treasured those conversations. I send sincere sympathies to Frank's family, so sorry for your loss of a precious loved one.
