Gene A. Furr, 83, of Port Carbon, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven.
He was born July 3, 1940, in Lumberton, North Carolina, a son of the late Claude Furr and Polly Ann (Britt) Furr.
Gene is survived by his wife, Monica (Karmazin) Furr, to whom he was married for 36 years.
Gene was of the Catholic faith.
He was a member of the North Ward Social Club, a social member of the Rainbow Hose Company and a member of the Second Mountain Rod & Gun Club, all of Schuylkill Haven.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Furr, and two brothers, Clyde and Jimmy Furr.
In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by his daughter, Terri Lynn Ratley, wife of Steve, of St. Paul, North Carolina; his daughter, Donna Inman, wife of Gene, of Hope Mills, North Carolina; his son, Michael Furr, husband of Kristin, of Centreville, Virginia; his son, Joseph Furr, husband of Amber, of Davenport, Florida; his stepson, Chris Dembinsky, of Saint Clair; his stepdaughter, Lauren Dembinsky, of Pottsville; his stepson, Paul Dembinsky, of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at James H. Evans Funeral Home, Saint Clair, with the Rev. Edward Connolly officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Saint Clair. James H. Evans Funeral Home Inc. is entrusted with arrangements.
