James R. Maley

James R. Maley, 73, of Minersville, passed away on Tuesday at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Thomas and Lillian Jefferson Maley.

He was a 1962 graduate of Cass Township High School and also graduated from Williamson Trade School, Media.

He worked as a machinist for Alcoa, Cressona, where he also served as shop steward for the United Steelworkers. He was later employed by Honeywell Films, Pottsville, until retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Chapel, Buck Run. He was also a member of Minersville Rotary, where he served as past president and had been honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the former Alcoa Bowling Team, and in recent years, enjoyed golfing with the Senior League at Hidden Valley.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Nabholz, in 2012; six siblings, Rose Morgan, Lillian Koslov, Thomas Maley, Elvin Maley, William Maley and Irma Maley.

Through all of Jim's accomplishments in his life, his greatest pride was his family. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Lois Ann Kardisco, to whom he was married for 53 years. He derived tremendous joy from spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jim's family was the first and foremost love in his life; and he will be forever missed.

In addition to Lois Ann, Jim is survived by two children, Heather Lynn Maley, Pottsville, and Bret Maley (spouse, Kathryn), Lake Wynonah; his son-in-law, Chris Nabholz, Pottsville; six grandchildren, Hannah, Noah and Emma Nabholz, Chase Maley, Valent Koscil and Abigail Greenhalgh. He is also survived by five siblings, Dolores Cielinski, Garwood, N.J., Robert Maley, Garwood, N.J., John Maley, Glen Dower, Ronald Maley, Landisville, and Eugene Maley, Buck Run; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury St., Minersville. Friends may call from 7 a.m. until the time of service Saturday. Interment will be in Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township. Visit www.dutcavich.com.
