James Eugene Pester Jr., 82, of Quakake, passed away Jan. 5, 2023, at home.
Born in Delano, he was a son of the late James E. Pester Sr. and Ethel (Deitz) Pester.
At Mahanoy Township High School, he was affectionately known as "Nick" as part of the last graduating class in 1959.
Jim entered the Navy Reserves during high school and served on the USS Intrepid full time from 1960-1962.
He was a career machine mechanic with Alpo Nestle. At home he was a hobby gardener and enjoyed automobile dealing and repair.
The cornerstone of his family, Jim was a steadfast husband and father. Survived by his loving wife, Georgette, in April 2022, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Together they have five children, Natalie, wife of David Wagner, of Quakake, Michele, companion of Jeff Shock, of Quakake, Lisa, wife of Michael Avenoso, of Barnesville, James "Nicky," of Quakake, and Colette, wife of Bill Phillips, of Downingtown. He was lovingly known as "Pop" to his 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Dena & Tim, David & Allie, Brittney, Thomas, Vanessa, Danny, Jake, Emma, Josette and Calista. So far, seven great-grandchildren followed, Daunte, Teegen, Julia, Elijah, Landon, Nolan and Carson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Pester Sr. and Ethel Deitz-Pester, of Delano, and granddaughter, Nicole Pester.
Christ Funeral Home, Hometown, is assisting the family with private service arrangements.
