Jean Rose Graeff passed away at the age of 81 on June 27, 2024, at home surrounded by family.
Jean was born in Pottsville, April 11, 1943. She graduated from Pottsville High School and then married the love of her life, Elmer James Graeff, whom she dated since age 16. Jean and Elmer literally built their family home together in Hamburg, where they lived happily for 61 years. Jean was always ready to help mix cement for Elmer to lay the bricks. She loved to read, work in the yard, plant flowers or pick blueberries in the back of the yard.
Jean went to Reading Area Community College to study computer science. After graduation, she was employed as a congressional aid for Congressman Gus Yatron and continued in the field working for Congressman Tim Holden.
Jean was a devoted mother to Marilyn Rose Graeff (soon to marry George Ozorowski) and Cathy Frances Graeff (Teresa Cloman). Jean always considered Teresa an honorary daughter and was overjoyed Marilyn is marrying George.
She had a passion for travel and made sure her girls knew it. Jean was always ready to jump on a plane, train or cruise ship to spend time with her family.
Jean Graeff was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer James Graeff, in 2022; mother, Rose Lechleitner; and sisters, Sally Hoff and Lisa Hunt.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn and Cathy; five sisters, Erlene Ashman, Karen Farber, Louise Schuler, Cindy Marx, and Linda Trabosh; and two brothers, Earl (Butch) Lechleitner and Gary Lechleitner.
