Jeffrey Lynn Riegel, 57, of Saint Clair, passed away after an almost four-year battle with cancer on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at his home.
Born in Pottsville, on April 5, 1965, he was a son of the late Wilmer P. and Beverly (Imschweiler) Riegel.
Jeff was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School, Class of 1985. He was first employed at Precision Air for more than 20 years, then at Fox Trucking, and his latest employer was Pitt-Ohio Express in Hazleton as a truck driver for 20 years.
Jeff was a lifetime member of the East End Fire Company and the Citizen's Fire Company in Palo Alto and the East Norwegian Township Fire Company in Dieners Hill. He also served as fire police in Palo Alto. Jeff enjoyed going to Big Diamond Speedway on a Friday night, going to Pottsville Area High School football games, NASCAR racing, riding his quad, hunting, fishing, hiking, spending time at his cousin Ray's garage and being with and spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren.
Jeff is survived by his wife of nine years, Phyllis M. (Hornberger) Riegel, Saint Clair; son, Jeffrey L. Riegel Jr. and his companion, Taylor Korell, Schuylkill Haven; two daughters, Stacey Sattazahn and her husband,Josh, Orwigsburg, and Brittany Riegel, Pottsville; five grandchildren, Kylie, Quinton, Allanni, Aleah and Aubree; brother, David Riegel and his companion, Diane Thorn; three sisters, Cheryl, Alicia and Candy; three stepsons, Justin R. Deane and his wife, Dannielle, Ringtown, Darren L. Miller Jr. and his companion, Katie Smith, Ashland, and Nicholas J. Miller and his wife, Kayla, Ashland; stepmother, Margaret Fredrick Riegel; three stepbrothers, Randy, Ronald and Charles "Puggy" Fredrick; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, Port Carbon, with Pastor Jack Murray officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Pottsville. A special thank you to all our wonderful neighbors, friends and family for all your prayers and support during Jeffrey's battle. Phyllis and family, Jeff and I became fast friends from the day we met and remained so till the end
His battle was a true testament to the man he was and such courage he portrayed. I will definitely miss him as his death will leave a big void in the hearts of many. As I told Jeff every time we spoke, YOU´RE MY HERO! RIP my friend!

R.i.p. Jeff. I know you fought a hard fight my friend,you have nomore pain,nomore suffering. I am glad Hunter and I both got to know you,and how you would let us know how you were and give words to inspire Hunter to go and do things despite his condition. Thank you for being a friend.
