Joan M. "Joanie" Majewski, 85, of Shenandoah, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown Campus.
Born on Sept. 1, 1936, in Shenandoah, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Anna (Kasperowicz) Majewski.
Joanie was a 1955 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah. She then graduated from Empire Beauty School, Pottsville. She later received her certified nursing assistant (CNA) training.
Earlier in life, she was employed as a hairdresser in White Plains, New York. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a CNA in New Jersey.
She was a devout and active member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, and the former St. Stanislaus Church. She was a dedicated choir member for many years.
Joanie enjoyed crocheting, shopping and visiting the beach. She was an avid reader, especially novels by Danielle Steel. Above all, her family was of most importance to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Regina Majewski Brown and Dorothy Karpovich; and one brother, Bernard S. "Bernie" Majewski.
Surviving are two brothers, Albert E. Majewski, of Shenandoah, and Joseph Majewski and his wife, Marie, of Westminster, Maryland; a sister, Alice Palek, of Shenandoah; her niece and caregiver, Donna Kalenkoski, of Shenandoah; additional nieces, nephews and their families and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, in St. Casimir's Church, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish, with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Casimir's Church, Shenandoah. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Divine Mercy Parish Memorial Fund, 108 West Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976. Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S.
