John Raymond Mesch, 90, of Lower Macungie Twp., passed away March 20, 2023, surrounded by his three children.
He was the loving husband of the late Vivien (Armstrong) Mesch.
Born in New Boston, John was a son of the late John P. and Leocadia (Mresse) Mesch.
He was a 1950 graduate of Mahanoy Township High School.
John was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was the president of John R. Mesch Associates, representing Colonial Candle Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1998. Prior to that, he was a buyer in the housewares division at the former Hess's Department Store in Allentown.
John was a member and former usher at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown.
He was past president of Lehigh Valley Model A Club and Ontelaunee Automobile Club. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club and Antique Truck Club of America. He also volunteered at Wheels of Time Museum.
Survivors are children, Christopher D. Mesch, Susan Mesch Ritter, wife of Robert Ritter, and Karen L. Mesch; sisters, Lee Spock, Joan C. Trakes and Mary, wife of Joseph Varese; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery, Mahanoy City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675. Arrangements are by J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown. Condolences may be offered at www.jsburkholder.com.
