John A. Shuey, 76, of Tower City, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, at his home.
Born in Orwin, Feb. 1, 1945, he was a son of the late Robert and Marion Miller Shuey. John was a 1964 graduate of the former Porter Tower High School.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Hector, Philadelphia. While in the Navy, he graduated from Nuclear Power School.
John retired after 32 years from TYCO, Lickdale. Following retirement, his love for motorcycles took him to White's Harley-Davidson, Lebanon, where he was the parts manager.
He was a former member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Orwin, and the Tower-Porter Rotary Club. He was a member and enjoyed going to the Tremont Area Senior Citizens. John was an avid ham radio and CB operator. He enjoyed all kinds of music, motorcycles, fishing and being in the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Dietrich, and two brothers, Ronald and Bruce Shuey.
Surviving are his wife, Leslie A. Shuey; a daughter, Diane M. Kline and her husband, John, Williamstown; five grandchildren, Joel, Kristel, Miranda, Christian and Devin; four great-grandchildren, Kaydan, Averie, Amari and Demi-Rose.
A Celebration of John's life will be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory should be made to the Hillside SPCA Inc., 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA 17901.
