Joseph Hutsko Obituary

Dr. Joseph Paul Hutsko (Joe), died peacefully March 5, 2024, in his home.

He was the husband of JoAnne (Burk) Hutsko, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Born in Pottsville, he was a son of John and Mary Hutsko and was a graduate of Cass Twp. High School. He then graduated from Moravian College and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, which led him to become a beloved family physician for 45 years in Allentown.

Joe was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Limeport.

He was an outstanding athlete in both high school and college and was an avid Penn State football fan. He played racquetball for many years and loved reading, sudoku and poker. He held a deep passion for his grandchildren and was devoted to following them through their sports, academics and vocations. He will be remembered for always finding beauty in the simplicity of life. He savored ordinary joys like soft rain, August tomatoes, magenta sunsets, chopping wood and harmonizing to old songs. Joe immediately put people at ease with his warm and disarming sense of humor.

He is predeceased by his 3-year-old son, Jody, (in 1970), and by eight of his 10 siblings.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne; son, Timothy Hutsko (Kristen), Mesa, Ariz.; daughters, Jacqueline Scott (Dan), Kyrgyzstan, Patricia Brown, Coopersburg, Christina Piwowarski (Mark), Glenelg, Md., and Lynn Khosrowshahi (Kam), New Vernon, N.J. Joe is also survived by his sister, Mary Sullivan, of Jackson, Miss.; his brother, Francis Hutsko, of Minersville; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held privately by immediate family. Online condolences may be made at www.weberfuneralhomes.com.
