Kyle Allen Bender, 15, of Branchdale, passed away Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, from injuries received in an accident Oct. 19.
Born in Pottsville, March 5, 1997, he was a son of Betty Bender and step-father, Ed Hauptly, Branchdale.
Kyle lived for many years with his grandparents, Jean M. Borinsky Bender, Pine Grove, and the late Earl L. Bender, who passed away Oct. 12.
While living there he was a student in the Pine Grove Area schools.
Kyle was a ninth grade student in the Minersville High School.
He loved riding his four-wheeler and jeeps.
He especially loved hanging out with his friends and loved listening to country music.
Kyle was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.
In addition to his grandfather, Kyle was preceded in death by his sister, Alexis Bender; two uncles, Earl L. Bender II and Lawrence Bender; and a cousin, Jeffrey Tyler Slane.
Surviving in addition to his mother, step-father and grandmother, are a step-brother, Eddie Hauptly; a step-sister, Justina Hauptly; two aunts, Ruth, wife of Andy Casterline, Pottsville, and Theresa, wife of Bruce Hand, Lorberry; many great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with Dr. Richard W. Schoenleber officiating. There will be a viewing from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove.

I think of Kyle often. His smile and when I could make him laugh. Kyle and I worked on a bench together in woodshop and sadly he was unable to complete it. Eventually I completed the bench and to this day every time I look at the bench it is a reminder of the time I got to spend with Kyle. Kyle had a kind and loving heart despite his ruffness around the edges. :) He made me a picture that said Miss Barb rocks and that was the day I knew I broke through and I reached him. From that day on I knew I made a difference. I will continue to cherish the memories I have of Kyle always. Kyle you ROCK!

I had the privledge of being Kyles van driver when he was attending the I.U. in Marlin. He was living in Lincoln with his grandparents at the time. He was always polite to me and had a way of keeping the other students in line on the van. He would tell me how much he liked going to Big Diamond raceway. Kyle was one of my special students and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Betty, Im so sorry for your recent losses. I know we don't speak anymore, but honestly, if you need me please do not hesitate to contact me in email or however. My heart aches for you, Kyle was definitely a special boy, I have a few memories of him. One time at the store his friends made a huge mess and Kyle came back and cleaned their mess up, I told him that was NOT his responsibility but he said he was sorry for his friends and he would clean it. I thought he was a good kid. Could definitely tell he was yours by his mouth lol. Betty again, I am truly sorry for your loss.
