Oliver L. Reed, 94, formerly of Mantua Township, N.J., passed away Saturday at Apple Blossom Senior Living, Moon Township.
Born October 5, 1927, he was the son of the late, LeRoy and Edith Dietrich Reed.
Oliver (Ollie) was a 1945 graduate of Orwigsburg High School. He then went on to serve as an electronic technician in the Navy. After serving in the Navy, Oliver returned to receive his B.S. from Penn State in electrical engineering in 1950.
Oliver spent most of his life working as an electrical engineer for the United States Government at Naval Ship Engineering Station, Philadelphia.
In his free time, Oliver enjoyed hunting with his family and RVing with his wife, Cecelia, in their AirstreamTrailer. He will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his friendly smile and his keen sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia Mae Reed, who passed away in 2018. He was also preceded by his brother, Francis Reed.
Oliver is survived by his daughter, Cindy Reed, of Mantua, N.J., and his son, Bob Reed and his wife, Sue, of Moon Township. He is also survived by siblings, Orva Krause, of Pine Grove, Clifford Reed, of Bethlehem, Jay Reed, husband to Sylvia, of Mullica Hill, N.J., and Faye Baranowski, of Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. Funeral services will follow the viewing at 2 p.m. Interment will be on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, USO or the charity of your choice. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.grabowskifuneralhome.com.

Bob and Cindy - I just now discovered your dad's obit. I can see your mom also passed. I've thought a lot about them over the years. I didn't know your father well, but I always enjoyed talking to your mom. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies on the loss of both. Hope to see Bob in October. I'll be more talkative this time, I promise.

I will always remember how nice your Dad was when I was a kid delivering The Woodbury Times to your home. He always resembled the "Every Dad" we grew up watching on TV. Sorry to hear of his passing. Bless you and your family.
