Phyllis Kevy Obituary

Phyllis C. Kevy, 70, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday morning at her residence.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., May 8, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Nathan and Lillian Cappetta Kevy.
She was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School.
Phyllis worked for the former American Argo Corp., Schuylkill Haven, and was a Mary Kay Cosmetic consultant.
She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kevy, and a sister, Veronica J. "Roni" Kevy.
Surviving are a sister, Myrna A., wife of William Everly, Port Carbon; two nephews, Michael J. Everly, husband of Christina, Mechanicsburg, and Craig D. Everly, husband of Lori, Pottsville; a great-nephew, Alex Everly, Pottsville; two great-nieces, Cassandra and Ciara Everly, Mechanicsburg; and very good friends, Vito and Kelli Valenti, Chestnut Hill, and Carmello and Jennifer Valenti, Orwigsburg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. Robert Potts officiating. Friends may call at the church inside the chapel from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Hillside, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions to either St. Patrick Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville PA 17901 or American Heart Association, 613 Baltimore Drive, Suite 3, Wilkes Barre, PA 18702. Dear Myrna & Family,
I'm so saddened to read of the death of Phyllis. Please accept my deepest sympathy. I met Phyllis in 1963 when I started working in Van Heusen. I knew Roni, Bob and your Mother and your dear Father. They welcomed me into their home and I have wonderful memories; especially, of Phyllis and your Father. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Please accept my sympathies. When I resided in Pottsville and worked at Argo Mills, Phyllis, Roni and I were very good friends. I knew all of the Kevy family and all I can say is that even though I left the area many years ago I think of them frequently and when I returned to visit, which isn't very often, I never hesitated to call or visit. It was a beautiful family who always welcomed me, and who never was judgmental. I miss all of them. Phyllis will be in my heart with my great memories of all us when we were young, spirited and were always there to listen.

I am so sorry to hear of Phyllis' passing. I worked with her for many years at American Argo, and we remained friends for many years afterwards.
