Ralph Everly Obituary

Ralph H. Everly, 85, of Manor Drive, Orwigsburg, formerly of Jack's Lane, Orwigsburg, died Saturday at Genesis Eldercare Orwigsburg Center, Orwigsburg.

He was the husband of Phyllis C. Miller Everly, who died April 12, 2003.

Born in Pottsville, July 6, 1921, he was a son of the late James and Estella Rorick Everly. He was a 1938 graduate of Pottsville High School.

He was employed as a data processor for the former ALCOA aluminum plant, Cressona. He retired upon the plant's closing.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Orwigsburg.

He served in the Army as a sergeant in World War II. He received the Purple Heart, Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and Distinguished Unit Badge European African Middle Eastern Services Medal with six Bronze Service Stars.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Albert Everly; two sisters, Marie Park and Lillian Kessler.

Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Karen L.,,Brookville, Ohio, and Diane G., wife of Robert Lilley, Hagerstown, Md.; a son, David R., husband of Lynn E. Everly, Orwigsburg; two granddaughters, Janice L. Everly, a student at the University of Pittsburgh, and Rachel Lilley, Hagerstown, Md.; two grandsons, Scott D. Everly, Orwigsburg, and Michael Lilley, Hagerstown, Md.

Religious services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning from Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., 116 S. Libery St., Orwigsburg, with the Rev. Joseph J. Scholtes Jr. officiating. Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. The Pottsville Joint Veterans Association will be holding military honors at 10:15 a.m. prior to the religious services and at the graveside. The family would appreciate if contributions would be sent to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Ralph H. Everly's name, P.O. Box 156, Orwigsburg, PA 17961. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park Inc., Schuylkill Haven.

Diane and Family,
My deepest sympathy's at the loss of your Father recently and also of your Mother in 2003. May you find peace and hold dear to your Heart fond memories of your life with both of your parents and family gathereings.

My mother, Sue Pedriani, of Mahanoy City, was a girlhood friend of your mother Phyllis ... and so we knew Ralph, too. Phyllis and Ralph visited our home in Mahanoy City many, many times, and I have good memories of both of them. Now they're together again.
