Ray F. "Lucky Ray" Krammes Jr., 83, of Orwigsburg, passed away Wednesday, June 5, at home.
Born July 30, 1940, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Ray F. Krammes Sr. and Verna (Fritz) Krammes.
His late wife, Wanda Ann (Topewith) Krammes, passed away in 1997.
He shared the last 25 years of his life with his companion, Joan A. Peleschak. The couple has enjoyed spending winters in Fort Myers, Fla., since 2003.
Ray attended Schuylkill Haven High School and had served in the Navy for four years. He retired from the Army Reserve after 23 years of service.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Fort Myers, Fla.
Ray served on the Schuylkill Haven Police Force in the early 1970s. He later worked in the collision repair industry and retired in 2002 from Bob Weaver Collision Department.
He was a member of the East Ward Social Club, South Schuylkill Rotary Club, AMVETS of Summit Station, Fraternal Order of Police, Auto Body Association and Schuylkill Haven and Fort Myers American Legions.
Ray enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino and golfing with the senior league at Hidden Valley Golf Course, Pine Grove.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ray was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Caley O'Sullivan.
In addition to his longtime companion, Ray is also survived by daughter, Karen M., wife of Rick Shanoskie, of Lake Wynonah; son, Andy R., husband of Kathy Krammes, of Schuylkill Haven; grandchildren, Jess Williams, wife of Tim, and their daughters, Emilia, Olivia and Sophia, all of Bel Air, Md., Stacie O'Sullivan, wife of Dan, and their children, Kieran and Bridie, all of Severna Park, Md., Andrew Peleschak and daughter, Sophia, both of Frackville, Stacey Yeich, wife of Cody, and their sons, Carter, Bryson and Henry, all of Adamsdale, and Eric Naus, of Schuylkill Haven. He is also survived by siblings, Cheryl Warner and husband, Jed, Pine Grove, and Mark Krammes and his companion, Belinda Rank, Schuylkill Haven; special friend "son No. 2," Mike Bubeck, Schuylkill Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Monsignor Edward Zemanik officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment with military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
