Rhea Konkus Obituary

Rhea Jean Konkus, 62, of Minersville, passed away Friday while in the company of family members, at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Jean was born in Pottsville, Aug. 31, 1952, a daughter of Henry and Winifred Seiger Lemke.

Jean was the wife of Paul M. Konkus Sr., Minersville, with whom she had celebrated 39 years of marriage.

She was a graduate of Minersville Area High School. She had been formally employed at Rodnick's Deli, M and R Catering and was the head cook at Hillcrest Catering.

She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Minersville.

Jean was an avid reader and yard sale enthusiast, but her greatest joy was her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Paul, Jean is survived by a daughter, Susannah, wife of Michael Gula, Gordon Nagle Trail; two sons, Paul M. Konkus Jr., Branch Township, and Michael, husband of Megan, Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Braden and Hannah Gula, and Owen Konkus.

She is also survived by twin sister, Rita Jane, wife of George Bosack, Llewellyn; sister, Fay Reagan, Minersville; brother George, husband of Linda Lemke, Pine Grove, Robert, husband of Julie Lemke, Wellsboro; nieces and nephews.

A Divine Liturgy with the Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Minersville, with the Very Rev. Francis Twardzik S.D.B. officiating. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, with a Rite of Parastas at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Jean's name to the American Cancer Society, 101 W. Frack St., Frackville, PA 17932, and shall be accepted at the funeral home during visiation. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., is entrusted with arrangements.
