Richard B. Brossman, 94, of Orwigsburg, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, at Seton Manor Inc.
Richard was born in Auburn, on Oct. 25, 1927, a son of the late Mantania (Fryer) and George Solomon Brossman.
He was the husband of Jean (Webber) Brossman. They were married Feb. 17, 1950.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Orwigsburg, and served in the Army as a corporal during World War II.
He worked as a head knitter for 45 years at Fessler Knitting Mill, Orwigsburg.
Richard enjoyed spending time in his workshop, garage and took great pride in his home and yard. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Local 802 and a past Noble Grand of his chapter and a member of the local VFW. He served as zoning commissioner for Orwigsburg Borough for many years. He also had the privilege of being grand marshal in one of Orwigsburg's Memorial Day parades.
He was preceded in death by siblings, George Brossman and Dorothy (Brossman) Fisher.
In addition to Jean, his wife of 71 years, Richard is survived by his daughter, Pamela Steele, widow of James Steele, and his son, Eric Brossman, husband of Jody. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cale Steele, Kevin Steele, Christopher Brossman, Caitlin Brossman, and Sean Brossman; stepgrandson, Brandon Edelman; great-grandson, Toby Steele; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Orwigsburg, with the Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Memorial gathering will begin at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 236 E. Market St., Orwigsburg, PA 17961. I will always remember Dick as a gentleman. He was kind,funny,and very articulate with his appearance. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
