I really don't know what to say other than Space was the best friend a person could have. I am lucky to have shared so many good times with him, and he helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life. I miss him so much. I read a card that said each life is like a song, and the song he created is one that will play on forever in the hearts of all those who love him.

It's hard to imagine a world without our dear friend, Scott. When I think about growing up in Minersville, Scott is included in so many of my fond memories. He always had a magical way of bringing us all together. He never judged us for what we did or didn't do. He reminds each one of us about what is truly important in life, our friends and family. His memory will live on in each of us.

While I hadn't seen Scott in a number of years, as many have already said, it never mattered. Since grade school, he was always "the life of the party," and he truly was a friend to everyone. My heart breaks for those he has left behind, but I pray for your peace and comfort in this time of sadness.

My deepest sympathies go to the Olenick family and all of Scott's family and friends. I have known Scott forever since I hung out in New Minersville when I was little and then of course we went to high school together. He was such a positive, devoted and kind person, plus he made us all laugh like no other. His passing is a shock to us all and he will be missed forever. God bless you all.

Dear Olenick Family:
I was very shocked and upset to hear the news about my friend Scott Olenick. I am sorry for your loss and cannot say enough good things about him in this space on the computer. Certainly all of the good memories of him coming rushing back to mind when you think of Space. He definitely did an excellent job bringing everyone back together for our reunion. Of course he and I were always ready for some laughs at any given point. I remember all of those great times in Geometry class with Mr. Spangler. He was always light-hearted and jovial and could make everyone laugh. We will all miss you so much Space.

My condolences to Scott's family. I haven't seen him in years but he is one of the most memorable people from my early years at St. Francis. He was the child that threw the snowball at recess, when told not to, and the man whom everyone loved. Peace be with you.

My deepest sympathy to the Olenick Family you are in my thoughts and prayers.
This world has lost one great person way too soon in life. Scott was the kindest, funniest, and full of life person anyone could meet. His family and friends were so important to him, his eyes would light up just talking about his nephews, I had the pleasure of meeting Timmy one time and seeing Scott with him was amazing. I am very lucky to have shared a time with Space and the fun, laughter and memories will last a lifetime. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Scott is truly blessed. He will be in heaven watching over all his family and friends and probably singing, maybe even Tom Petty's Mary Jane again....Space you will be sadly missed by all!
June 28, 2009
If you were blessed enough to have Scott touch your life in some way, then you know what a special person he was. Selfless, giving, kind-hearted, loving, genuine, and funny are just a few of the words to describe him. Scott was devoted to his family and loyal to his friends, always eager to help, and never saying no when asked. There is one less angel on Earth and one more in Heaven. Thank you Scott for all the memories and love.

When you receive the news early Thursday morning about Scott you look for answers you make the County Wide call until you speak with someone and share your thoughts and memories. Living out of the area, I never rented a video from Scott. Last year I stepped into Flash for the first time since 88’…I was looking to purchase a property...
Scott greeted me at the door and showed me around…we spoke about how the store was doing and what he did to make his locale’ a success. We reminisced about how he taught me to drive a manual shift vehicle…I am not sure I think it was a Blazer but I was able to get from Palermo’s to New Minersville, blasting The Boss on his TSX80’s from Cremo’s…that is how we ended our last conversation; smiling, laughing and positive. Scott had that gift I know that Minersville’s movie nights will never be the same.
Olenick family, please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss of Scott.

Dear Aunt Norma, Sherry, Uncle Henry,
Olenick and Cazonie families and friends,
Scott was one of the most kindest and unselfish persons we knew. His sudden passing has left a deep emptyness in many hearts. We all have wonderful memories of all of our family times together especially our trips to New York City and Hershey Park with Scott and his nephew Tim.
To Scott,
Thank you for all of your love and all of the great memories, they will live on in our hearts forever. We know that when God called you home that you had to go.
Death is not the end, but a new beginning of a joyous eternal life in Heaven with God and all of our loved ones that have gone before us.
May the good Lord bless and comfort you always.

To the Olenick Family:
My heart broke when I heard of Scott's passing. Although I haven't seen Space in years, the loss I feel is as strong as if I saw I saw him yesterday. He truly knew the art of being a friend. And, my life was blessed by having him in it. Twenty years ago Space took care of me and stayed by my side after my boyfriend (his friend), passed away. He was my angel. Now, they are together in heaven.
May God bless you all.

Space was a great guy. So much fun to be around. He had the biggest heart, and the best laugh. My memories are from a long time ago, when he could name that tune in one note out of the back of his car, made a mean omelet in the wee hours of the AM for all his friends, and kept you laughing the entire time. He talked about being a rock star, and having his own business. I lived accross the street when the video store was just becoming a reality. He was so happy and full of hope. He became a successful business man. I was so happy for him. As for the rock star...On the level of friendship he succeeded at that too. My prayers are for his family and his best friends, from a friend who was blessed to have him as a part of her memories. Gone way to soon, but he left an impression on everyone's heart who knew him. He won't be forgotten.

To the Olenick Family,
May God bless you and hold you during this time of sorrow.
All who knew Scott are deeply saddened by the news of his passing. For those of us who knew him since high school, Scott was a special person. He was someone who got along with everyone no matter what their background or interest. He was someone who could make you smile, make you think, and simply make your day. During high school, I played sports with Scott, went to class with him, and simply just spent time with him. And just like back then, when we gathered for our 20-year high school reunion a couple of years ago, Scott was the same guy. Not surprisingly, Scott was the one who went out of his way in 2007 to bring as many of us together as he could. It didn't matter how long there had been between when you had seen him last, he was always the same positive, fun-loving, generous friend you remembered. I remember talking to him there like I had just talked to him the day before, when in reality it had been quite some time. I remember thanking him for doing what he did to contact so many of our classmates, and Scott's response was 'it was nothing'. He was always like that - he was wonderful. We all have special memories of Scott, and we'll all keep his soul in our prayers. God bless you.

Sympathy to the Olenick Family,
No words can say how sorry I am for your loss. Scott was such a great guy. I went to High School with him and hung out with him. He was actually the person who took me to my first concert when I was in 11th grade and he in 12th. He was always so fun to be around. I think I speak for everyone that knows him that he was an all around great guy. Always there to help anyone. He will be sadly missed by all. God Bless your family and may you find comfort in the great memories. We love you Space.

I had known Scott since I met him in high school. He was one of the most generous, fun-loving, happiest people I have ever known. He went out of his way to help me, my family, and honestly anyone who ever needed him. Although my time with him was nearly 25 years, it was not enough. My deepest condolences and prayers go out to his dear mother and the rest of his family. He was a kind, intelligent, sincere person who worked hard at everything he loved, but most of all to me, he was one of my best friends. My life will not be the same, and I will miss you Space. May God bless you and take care of you and your family.

Scott was one of the best friends anyone could ever ask for. All of us knew that if we were in a pinch, you could call Scott and he would be there to help. He was fun, thoughtful, and smart. He could find humor in any situation, and he would flash his smile, toss back back his head and laugh his crazy, infectious laugh. He always had these "big ideas". His big ideas were always funny, but as you thought about it, you would say to yourself "hey, that is a great idea!" He traveled all over this country and Europe, and when he told you a story about it, he made you feel as though you had been there yourself. He loved his family and I know he was a loyal, selfless son. He loved kids. He always had something funny and entertaining to say to a child. He was a super businessman. He started the video store eight years ago. Some told him that it was a bad location and there was no place to park. We hoped for the best, but we thought that maybe it wouldn't succeed. Well, he showed everyone. Blockbuster and West Coast have miniscule inventories compared to Olenick's Video. He made it the best video store around. If a peson wanted a certain movie and he didn't have it, he would get it in 2 or 3 days. Most of the time, the person didn't even ask him to get it. They would visit the store and Scott would say "Hey, I got your movie that you wanted." Scott was driven to make his store the best. Movies were more than his hobby to Scott, they were part of his life. I can go on all day about my friend Space. He had so many friends, I know that there will be many great stories on this page for people to read and remember this great guy whose time came way too soon. Space, we are shocked and we are sad. We will always miss you and we love you very much. I consider myself and my family very lucky to call him our friend. My advice to everyone who is mourning this heavy loss is to remember this: Scott isn't here, he just moved, and Heaven just became a much more fun place because Scott Olenick lives there!!
