Warren L. Holmes

Warren L. Holmes, 92, of Faux Hill Road, Zion Grove, passed away Monday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Warren was born in Jamesburg, N.J., Dec. 20, 1919, a son of the late Livingston S. and Margaret Roman Holmes.

He was a member of Aurand Memorial United Methodist Church, Ringtown.

Warren was retired, having worked as a foreman of the grounds maintenance department at the State Home for Boys in Jamesburg. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Jamesburg.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish and work in his garden. A real problem solver, he loved to tinker and fix things.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Cook Holmes; his former wife, Laura Holmes; and a grandson, Nathan Harold.

Warren is survived by two daughters, Dorothy, wife of Gene Steiner, Zion Grove, and Diane Mitchell, Englishtown, N.J.; five sisters, Alma Boyce, Catherine Archer and Bernice Holmes, all of Morganville, N.J., Eleanor Birch and Virginia Johnson, both of Freehold, N.J.; two brothers, Charles, Morganville, N.J., and Donald, Holmdel, N.J.; grandchildren, Tod Locher, Julie Zehner, Lori Stauffer, Scott Locher, Robert Mitchell, Richard Mitchell and Carl Mitchell; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 W. Main St., Ringtown. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place Friday in Fernwood Cemetery, Jamesburg, N.J.
