William W. "Bill" Gundrum, 86, of Wayne Twp., Schuylkill Haven, died Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his residence.
He was the husband of Carole M. (Kutz) Gundrum, to whom he was married for 61 years.
Born Dec. 18, 1937, in Millbach, Lebanon County, he was a son of the late William Reich and Anna Marie Wandrei Gundrum.
Bill was a 1955 graduate of Jonestown High School. Prior to that, he also attended Deer Creek in Logansport, Indiana.
He served in the Army from 1955 to 1958.
Bill was self-employed as a master Volkswagen mechanic and car salesman. He previously was a supervisor at North American Refractory, Womelsdorf.
He was a member of the NRA. Bill enjoyed music, playing guitar and collecting cars and guns.
Bill designed and patented a Volkswagen performance shifter and established Moyer's Station Enterprises. He promoted 15 Bug Meets in Carlisle and Beaver Springs from 1998 to 2005. These were VW shows that included a drag race, car show and many other family events.
He was preceded in death by brothers, John, George, Edward (Mike), Andrew and Martin Gundrum; and sisters, Mary Gromis, Betty Leedy, June Perlaki and Peggy Weiss.
Bill is survived by two sons, William W. Gundrum II, of Nottingham, Pa., and Steven D. Gundrum, of Schuylkill Haven; three grandchildren, Brooke, Eric and Mark Gundrum; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Schaefferstown Cemetery. Visit GroseFH.com.
