Our heartfelt sympathy to the Heffner Family. Will was the "lifeline" to so many through his work as a PCO and Fire Chief. His job was not easy, and often unrewarding. But if just one life was made easier, comforted, or saved by Will's actions, then his life was well worth it and he was rewarded. Now he rests in the arms of our Loving, Understanding God, in peace.

From everyone here at the Summit Station quarry, we lost a terrific fire chief and friend. Will, was just here to weigh the truck a few weeks back and we gave him a donation from the company as well as myself for the house on the Fairgrounds property. Always had a smile on his face. Deb and the Heffner family my deepest sympathy. I saw this poem and thought of Will.
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile.

Forget unkind words I have spoken;
Remember the good I have done.
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun.
Forget that I've stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought some hard battles
And won, ere the close of the day.

Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not have you sad for a day,
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay,

And come in the shade of evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best.

My Deepest Sympathy to all of Will's family, Debbie, William, Ashley, Kay, Jeff and Craig. Will touched and enriched the lives of many, certainly mine was one of them. A Mentor and a Friend, Will was always an inspiration to me. I think that is is safe to say that many of us looked up to him and inspired to be like him and to be good at what we chose to do, just as he was. Someday, I know we'll ride again. Rest Easy Brother.
