Mrs. Barbara Frazier Brooks was born in Society Hill, S.C., on June 17, 1950, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ranta and Grace Frazier. She departed this life peacefully on April 13, 2023, in Dallas, Texas.

Mrs. Brooks graduated from Rosenwald High School in Society Hill, South Carolina with honors. She earned a B.A degree in Sociology from Hampton University, Hampton, VA in 1972.

In 1986, she was hired as Black River Consortium's first Executive Director/CEO with the directive to merge three independently operating Community Health Clinics in Florence, Clarendon and Williamsburg counties for over 20 years.

She also served on numerous boards including the United Way of Florence, Girl Scouts of the Pee Dee, President of the Board of South Carolina Primary Health Care Association (SCPHCA), and the Coastal Plain Rural Health Network.

She was a faithful member of Savannah Grove Baptist Church where she sang on the Sanctuary Choir, Vesper Singers, and as chairman of the adult Day Care Program Board.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted daughter, Alexis; son-in-law, Daniell; and grandson, Ethan (her "pride and joy") of Dallas, Texas. Her dear sisters, Brenda (Melvin) Poole of Rock Hill, S.C., Bonita (Leon) McCray Jr. of Effingham, S.C, Eleanor Jackson of New York; nieces, Ms. Kavita Poole of Charlotte, N.C, Ms. Vachelle Poole of Fort Mill, S.C, Ms. Oluwabayo Jackson of New York; nephew, Ryan McCray of Effingham, S.C.; grandnieces, Janiya Agurs of Fort Mill, S.C., and Grace Poole of Charlotte, N.C. Mrs. Brooks lived a fulfilling life dedicated to God, her family, and her career. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 39 years, Mr. Larry Brooks in 2020.
