Edward Conner Obituary

Edward James

Conner, Sr.

Edward James Conner, Sr., 92, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to his heavenly home on February 5, 2021. Born in October, 1928 in Florence County, he was the son of Jesse and Lottie Conner. He served in the U.S. Army after graduating high school. After several different jobs in Florence, he went to work for and retired from E. I. DuPont de Nemours Company.

He was a longtime member of Effingham Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a Deacon and an Elder.

He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Hunt (Bill); a son, Alan Patrick Conner; a grandson, Billy Hunt (Beth); a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Hunt; a sister, Bessie M. DeBerry; and two brothers, Boyd Conner and Heyward Conner. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He was predeceased by his wife, Georgia C. Conner; two sons, Edward Conner Jr. and Donald Wayne Conner; a sister, Bernice Dalrymple; two brothers, Dalmer Conner and Willard Conner.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 9, at Effingham Presbyterian Church, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Service will also be available by radio in the church parking lot. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence. Family will receive friends at graveside following the committal. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks are requested.
