FLORENCE – Gregory Cunningham Dailey, 58, died Saturday, February 18, 2023, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Florence, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
He was born in Florence, SC, a son of William Cunningham and Ida Margaret McAbee Dailey. He graduated from West Florence High School in 1982. He worked as a trim carpenter for many years before his love of history called him back to school to earn his Bachelor of Arts in History from Francis Marion University and his Masters in History from Winthrop University. He was passionate about learning and sharing knowledge with others, which led him to become a history professor at Florence-Darlington Technical College. Greg loved nature and spent as much time as possible exploring the outdoors.
Survivors, in addition to his parents of Florence, SC, include his daughter, Lauren (Jake) Meeks of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Alison Dailey of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and two brothers, John Christopher Dailey of Asheville, NC, and Alan Dailey of Richmond, VA; and a number of extended family members.
He was predeceased by a brother, William F. Dailey; and a nephew, Will Dailey.
Waters-Powell Funeral Home is assisting the family.

I first met Dailey when I was Bartending at The Roundhouse YEARS ago. He was by far and away one of my Favorite people. "Funny" is not a good enough word to describe him. He is one of the few people who stayed in contact with me after the Roundhouse days. I love you brother and will DEFINITELY be one of the first ones I catch on the flip side. Rest easy Brother.
