Hazel Thomas Obituary
August 5, 1956 - October 18, 2024
Hazel Elizabeth Thomas of Newport News, VA, passed peacefully in her home on Friday, October 18, 2024, after a long illness. Born in Arlington, VA, on August 5, 1956, to parents, Beverly Faye Thomas and Haskell Moisson Thomas, Jr., she spent her younger years in Florence, SC., and for 35 years worked there and in the Hampton Roads area as a registered nurse, serving and helping those in need of healing. Her grandson, who survives her, was the light of her life from his birth.
She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Elizabeth Young; her grandson, Patrick Anthony Richardson Mosley; and his father, John Mosley, Jr., of the home.
She is also survived by her mother, Beverly Thomas Sims; and her sister, Beverly Folline (Folly) Thomas-Bower, both of Bakersville, CA; her brother, Haskell Moisson Thomas, III of the home; her maternal aunt, Chris Newman Camlin of Wilmington, NC; and her special lifelong friend, Mark West, whom she loved dearly, from Darlington, SC.
The family requests any remembrances be made to the charity of their choice or to Sentara Hospice of Newport News, VA.

I am so verry sorry. I knew Hazel well when she was in Florence. She worked at Steve Moore's law office for a while, but I knew her before that in school growing up. She was my younger brother, Malcolm's age. He died unexpectedly on 2-3-2000 at only 43 years of age. I am friends with Tommy Thomas but it has been probably close to 50 years since I have seen him. I'm on Facebook if Tommy wants to reach me. I retired earlier this year as an attorney. Tommy, Chip Dowis and I knew each other well way back when. Prayers for all of Hazell's family. She was a sweetheart, John David, AKA JD.
