McLeod, Jr.
FLORENCE - William Earl "Mac " McLeod, Jr., 44, went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2022, after a brief illness.
He was born in Florence, the son of Betty Cameron McLeod and the late William E. "Babe" McLeod, Sr. He graduated from Byrnes Academy and received degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Francis Marion University. He was also employed in the Communications Department there for fourteen years. Mac was a devoted caregiver to his mother.
He was generous and kind and had a strong faith. Mac loved his family dearly and faithfully kept everyone connected, by sharing prayer requests and praise reports. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother of Florence, include three brothers, Billy (Ginger) McLeod of Florence, Robbie (Ann Elizabeth) Owens of Darlington, and John (Melissa) Owens of Charleston; three sisters, Mary Lynn (Jeff) Peter and Debbie (Ken) Jackson, both of Florence, and Gayle (Ron) Morris of Charleston; an aunt, Linda (Ken) Poland of Atlanta, GA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Friendship United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Thursday, at the church. Waters-Powell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, 5422 E. Old Marion Hwy., Florence, SC 29506.

So very sorry to hear of Mac's passing. I know he is with our Lord now. Such a wonderful person, loyal and loving. Our times in Bible study were very poignant. I am blessed for having known Mac as a friend.

You, me, Nikki and Mike were quite the group growing up. I will never forget all of the wonderful childhood memories we shared at Ms. Stanley's house. It was a time when kids could still be kids. We played outside all day, made blanket forts, played pretend - hence you earning the name of Captain Mack, countless swims at your house on hot summer days, and we even tried to dig to China once. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to grow up with. I'm glad we had a few years together at FMU as adults, but I know we drifted apart when I took another job. I was always glad to hear from you when you would reach out to me. It was just way too soon for you to have left us all. Thinking of your family during this most difficult time. You will be missed my friend.
