Bernice Clara Wiener was born July 9, 1929 in Padua, Minnesota, the daughter of Susan (Spaeth) and Emil Wiener. She grew up in Padua and married Alois J. Karasch on July 22, 1947 in Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Padua. To this marriage, eleven children were born. Bernice worked hard raising their family. Baking, gardening, canning vegetables, making fresh sausage were some the tasks she enjoyed doing while their family was growing up. Bernice became an accomplished quilter, making a quilt for each of her children and many for her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Our Lady of the Angels Christian Mothers, the VFW Auxiliary, and American Legion Auxiliary. She would help with the Christian Mothers Annual Chow Mein dinner and donated quilts for church and auxiliary fund raisers. She always enjoyed playing cards - especially 500.

Bernice taught her family how to love and modeled what it means to have a strong faith in our God. Bernice demonstrated perseverance and resilience. She will be remembered as an outstanding Prayer Warrior for her family and for her church.

Bernice is survived by her eleven children, Alan (Janice) Karasch of Saint Cloud, Susan (Jerry) Haskamp of Sauk Centre, Gary (Penny) Karasch of Hill City, Michael (Cindy) Karasch of Grey Eagle, Ervin (Cindy) Karasch of Sauk Centre, Vern (Kim) Karasch of Blaine, Steven Karasch of Rapid City, SD, Kenneth (Esther) Karasch of Eagle River, AK, Janet (John) Thieschafer of Sauk Centre, Robert (Lynn) Karasch of East Bethel, and Sandra (Jeff) Kuhnau of Osakis; 26 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

To the Karasch family... Your mom was a neat lady. She always made me feel welcome when I got to "tag along" with Heinie, Lorraine, Shirley, etc. And even when I would run into her in later years, she was still always so friendly to me. And always a smile on her face. My condolences. I bet she and Lorraine are having fun again!!

Bernice was my first cousin and I have fond memories of her both as a child and an adult. I would tag along with my mother (Loretta Wiener) to visit Bernice and her family in Sauk Centre. I remember her at the Wiener celebrations. she was always fun to visit with and liked to share stories about her mom and dad. The last time I visited with Bernice, she talked about her children and her eyes were full of pride and love. Your family was to have such a loving mother. My thoughts are with you as you morn her loss.
