Carol V. Borgerding, 70

Sauk Centre

Sept. 3, 1944 - July 6, 2015

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre for Carol Borgerding who died peacefully on Monday, July 6 after a short battle with cancer at her home in Sauk Centre.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday all at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Caroline Veronica Schaefer was born September 3, 1944 in Belgrade, Minnesota to Herbert and Irene (Dingman) Schaefer.  She graduated from Sauk Centre High School. On August 20, 1963 she married Roger Borgerding at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.  The couple farmed south of Sauk Centre, where they had five children.  Along with farming, Carol also worked in food service at the Sauk Centre High School for many years.  In 2009, they retired from farming and moved to town.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Angles Catholic Church and a member and past president of the Christian Mothers. Carol enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, playing cards, going to garage sales, gambling, walking, gardening, traveling, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.  

Survivors include her husband, Roger Borgerding of Sauk Centre; children, Brian (Mary) Borgerding of Sauk Centre, Scott (Kim) Borgerding of Melrose, Greg (Christy) Borgerding of Rogers, Brenda (Roger) Jensen of Holdingford, and Rod (Melanie) Borgerding of Coon Rapids; ten grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jerry (Elaine) Schaefer of Dassel, Joan (Gene) Tamm of St. Cloud, Danny (Ginny) Schaefer of Gillman,  Jane (Joe) Miller of Lakeville, Mary Schaefer of Boston, MA, Fred (Janelle) Schaefer of Annandale, Shirley (Jon) Anderson-Schmidt of St. Cloud, and Juleen Schaefer (friend, Eleanor) of St. Cloud.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister; sister, Lorraine VanBeck on December 17, 1999.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
