I was very sad to recently hear of my Uncle Doc's passing. My dad Leonard was Emma's youngest brother in their family of 13. My family left Minnesota when I was very young. My parents used to bring us kids back to Minnesota for summer vacation and we always visited all my dad's sisters and brothers who were my aunts and uncles and their families. I remember that we always looked forward to going over to Aunt Emma's and Uncle Doc's. It was always a good time and good food. Plus some of their kids were our age (Jeanne and I are the same age) so we really had a great time. After I grew up with all the responsibilities of everyday living, I didn't get back to Minnesota too much. I was thrilled when Uncle Doc got into computers and email and Facebook. He established a family mailing list and would let us know about deaths in the family and send copies of memorial leaflets. One of the most valuable things he would send out was a Family Medical History sheet for all the siblings in Emma's family. It's always good to know what your aunts and uncles died from (doctors like to know that kind of thing). I always looked forward to hearing from him, no matter the reason. In 2010, Bob and I traveled to Minnesota with Aunt Bernie from Sonoma. When Uncle Doc found out that we were coming, he contacted all the cousins that were on his email list and organized a get-together. He made arrangements for the three of us to stay in the guest apartment at their residential facility in Rogers. Our plane arrived late in Mpls and I still remember Uncle Doc standing outside the building after 11:00 p.m. with a flashlight and his cel phone to tell us how to get there and then show us how to get into the garage. We had a wonderful celebration and I got to meet some cousins for the first time and see some I hadn't seen in years. He also made arrangements for us to have breakfast with he and Emma in their dining room the next morning. Pretty good for an 89 year old! In 2011, Bob and I again came back to MN, this time with my sister Sharon for Doc and Emma's 65th anniversary celebration and the wedding reception of Mary and Joel. Emma was unable to attend the celebration but Doc met us at the place where Emma was staying and we got to see her for what ended up being the last time. One thing that always impressed me was the unconditional love and devotion that Doc and Emma had for each other. I will forever remember Uncle Doc for the very special person he was and will miss him deeply. My deepest sympathies to his children and their families and to all his family and friends.

This message is from Carol Lynn, niece of Uncle Doc. She lives in Sonoma, CA and is the daughter of Ben and Bernie Fruth (Ben was one of Emma's brothers).
"I am very much amiss at losing another of my most precious relatives. Doc and Emma were such great and fun people, as far as I knew them through the many years. Always here when Mom, Dad, or I wanted or needed them for fun or celebrations. They were always so good to us kids. I know that he is in God's good graces, and regret that he is no longer here to withess the further celebrations and goings on with all of us. I have lost track of who might be related/special to him, so I hope that you will relate my much dismay at his passing for me."

My deepest sympathy to all the great "Thielmann Family". You were one of the best neighbors and friend, back on Kentucky Avenue in Crystal. I have such fond memories of your parents kindness and always being invited to the lake with Jeanne.
May all your hearts be comforted with Gods abiding grace through this time, and embrace each memory of your father's great love of his wonderful family and your life shared together.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Such a great host and lover of people, he was. A true follower of Christ. Enjoy those streets of Gold, walking with the Master, my dear Uncle Doc.
