Fran was born on February 8, 1934 in Salina, Kansas to the late Richard and Marie (Stonebraker) Peterson. After her mother's death at age nine, Fran was raised by her aunt Hattie Dixon and stepmother, Mollie Peterson.   Fran lived in Kansas until 1976 and then moved to the St. Cloud area.  She married Richard Joarnt on June 25, 1984.  She was employed as a registered nurse for St. Cloud Surgical Associates and later in home care.  After retirement, Fran volunteered her time at the church, helping in the office.   She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Kansas and Love of Christ Lutheran Church.

Fran enjoyed quilting, crocheting, painting, reading, cross stitching and spending time with her family and quilting friends.

She is survived by her husband, Rich of St. Cloud; children, Debra (Brian) Hertel of Emporia, KS, Cheryl Chance of Hutchinson, KS, Lisa (Mark) Bartels of Sartell, Brenda Joarnt of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Drew (Shannan) Chance, Megan Hertel, Tyler Janda, Erin (Joe) Jager, Allison Payonk; great grandchildren, Kayden Jager and Savanna Chance; sister, Judy Cunningham; and aunt, Betty Gifford.

A special thank you to the care team at Country Manor, special friend, Lin Walker and her church and quilting friends for their love and kindness to us all.

I so enjoyed visiting with Fran. I was her hygienist for years and always looked forward to seeing her. Our love for quilting and reading was our connection for sure. My sympathy to Fran's family. A very lovely lady was she!
