Ione Heinen Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Roscoe, for Ione A. Heinen, who died at Country Manor Nursing Home in Sartell. Friends and relatives may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Glenn Krystosek will officiate and burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Ione, affectionately known as "Oni" was a daughter, sister, wife, and aunt. Although Ione was never blessed to have children of her own, she was a terrific aunt to all her nieces and nephews and later grand-aunt to her brother's and sister's grandchildren. Ione took great joy and interest in everyone's lives.
Ione was born to Mathias and Eleanor (Hormann) Heinen on November 21, 1944. She attended elementary school in Roscoe and was a 1962 graduate of Paynesville High School. After graduating she was employed at North American Creamery/Egg Plant in Paynesville, St. Cloud Hospital and Eye Craft.
On August 5, 1972 she was united in marriage to Glen Heinen at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Roscoe. They later divorced.
Ione did child care for many years. Ione's brothers and sister could always count on her to care for the nieces and nephews at a moments notice. Ione was a great cook and enjoyed hosting family gatherings.
When she could no longer stay in her home because of the toll diabetes took, she decided to enter a nursing facility and has lived at Country Manor since 2003. Ione never complained or said "Why me?" She enjoyed visits and always had a hug and "I love you" before you left. She will be sadly missed.
Ione is survived by her siblings, David (Boni) Heinen of St. Martin, Julie (Ken) Schefers of Paynesville and Donald (Mary) Heinen of Roscoe; and nieces and nephews. Her parents and two infant sisters preceded her in death.
