St. Cloud - Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at St. Benedict's Senior Community Chapel, St. Cloud for Irene E. Kub, age 96 of St. Cloud who passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Rev. Stephen Beauclair, OSB will officiate and interment will be at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services on Friday. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Irene was born in Hazelton, North Dakota on December 15, 1921 to Wendelin and Margaret (Lipp) Fischer. She was the second oldest of 11 Fischer children. Her family farmed near Hazelton for many years and in 1940 they moved to Bismarck, ND. Irene worked at the North Dakota State Capitol as a stenographic secretary where she met her future husband, Al Kub, a budding social worker. Irene and Al married on November 27, 1946 at St Mary's Cathedral in Bismarck and together they moved to St. Cloud, MN where Al had accepted a job at the VA Hospital as a Psychiatric Social Worker.

Irene loved her role as homemaker raising her five children. During those years she also had various secretarial jobs. She and Al were long time members of the Beaux and Belles Square Dance Club and enjoyed traveling. The family took many long camping vacations over the years to all parts of the US. Their love of travel continued into retirement. In her free time Irene enjoyed sewing, playing bridge and golfing. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella, St. Augustine's Christian Women and Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered together was a source of great joy. Irene lived a long, healthy and fulfilled life. She will be missed greatly.

Survivors include her children, Phyllis (Tom) Losinski of Plymouth, Judith (Fred) Thomas of St. Cloud, Catherine (Tom) Williams of Sartell, Eileen Black (Steve Danielson) of Eau Claire, WI and Thomas (Nancy) Kub of Stillwater; grandchildren, Benjamin (Shelly) Losinski, Jessica (Orlando) Pabotoy, Matthew (Maureen) Losinski, Allison (Adam) Cohn, Andrew (Jennifer) Thomas, Elizabeth (Devon) Muir, Nickolas (Anny) Reimer, Emily (Kevin) Goldstein, Kellen Black, Marshall (Sara) Black and Angela Kub (fiancé, Matt Pederson); 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Fischer, Gary Fischer; sisters, Alice Schlener, Helen Yetter, Claudette Doppler and Margo Owens.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Al (March 17, 2011); parents; brothers, Eddie, Clarence, Adrian and Melvin; grandchildren, Joey and Heidi Kub and son in law, Lyle Black.

Memorials preferred to Cathedral High School and St. Cloud Catholic Charities.
