Lindsay Overbay Obituary

Lindsay Marie (Wilfahrt) Overbay

Maple Lake (formerly of New Ulm) - Lindsay Marie (Wilfahrt) Overbay, age 37, was unexpectedly taken from us too soon on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

A private family service is being held with the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm.

To leave an online condolence for her family, or to sign the guestbook, go to: mvfh.org

Lindsay is survived by her husband of 9 years, Donald "Donnie" Overbay of Maple Lake; her children, Gavin and Ava Overbay; her parents, Mary and Larry Wilfahrt of New Ulm; her sister, Sara (fiancé Justin Refsland) Lien of Hastings, Jen (Ryan) Schmid of New Ulm; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Lindsay Marie Wilfahrt was born December 1, 1983, in New Ulm, to Larry and Mary Wilfahrt. She was a 2002 graduate of New Ulm Public High School and later attained her degree in Journalism from St. Cloud State University. Lindsay furthered her education in Las Vegas where she studied to become a Medical Assistant. She was most recently pursuing a degree as an ultrasound technician at St. Cloud Technical College. Her love of caring for people led her to work in cariology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and most recently with the Allina Health Clinic in Buffalo. Lindsay loved every minute of caring for others in the medical field; her favorite part was being able to help people, and checking up on "them babies". She also enjoyed caring for her older patients, because as she stated "they are at an age where they say what they are thinking." Lindsay truly lived her life to the fullest when she was with her "babies" and was able to do the simple things that a mother does for her children. Lindsay went by many names and titles, "Lenny", "Linds", "sweety", daughter, sister, friend, wife, but her favorite title of all was Mother. Shopping, attending rock concerts, hangin' with friends and family, road trips, spending time on the beaches in the Caribbean are just a few of the other things that she loved in life. Lindsay had an uncanny ability to light up a room with her personality and her infamous "laugh" was one that was distinguishable enough that you would know she was there. What gave Lindsay the most joy in life was spending time with her family, and every moment she shared with her children. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, but countless cherished memories will forever stay in the hearts and minds of those who knew her best. Blessed be those memories.

In lieu of flower, the family asks memorials be directed to the Lindsay Strong GoFundMe account established for her children: www.gofundme.com/f/jecwxx-lindsay-strong/donate

I worked with Lindsay at Mayo 6 and then we moved out to the hospital together. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her laugh made you smile no matter how bad the day was! She will be missed terribly!! Gavin and Ava have their own Angel in Heaven, but it's up to all of us to keep her memory alive for them. They need to know how amazing their mommy was and how many lives she touched!!

Lindsey took a world music class with me in the fall. She was a very insightful student and had so many wonderful comments about the music and cultures we studied. My condolences to her family and loved ones.
