Nancy Olson Obituary
Our beloved Nancy Wien (Helstrom) Olson fought and won her battle with lymphoma in 1977 and now fought a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully at the Annandale Care Center.
Nancy was born to Julmer Helstrom and Enid (Wien) Helstrom. She grew up in Cook, MN. Her parents instilled in her and her three siblings a deep love for their Creator, Jehovah God. On July 4, 1942 she dedicated her life to him in baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She left high school early to spend more time in her public ministry teaching others about God's purpose for the earth and how he plans to end all suffering. Nancy would want you to know that soon God's Kingdom will be here just as Jesus taught us to pray for and that peace will be restored to the earth as Jesus promised in Revelation 21:4. The promise of a resurrection that Jesus issued at John 5:28, 29 gave her courage to face her trials and keep her positive attitude.
After moving to St. Cloud she met and married Richard F. Olson on April 15, 1950, where she and Richard helped start the first congregation when there were only 13 of Jehovah's Witnesses. Now there are 3 congregations. Many they helped in their ministry have moved on to other areas including foreign countries. For the past 18 1/2 years she had been an integral part of the Annandale congregation.
Nancy was an excellent cook, she loved gardening and being with her friends, but mostly she loved teaching people about the Bible. Nancy touched countless lives with her ministry and words of wisdom. She had many who considered her a mother, a sister or grandmother. Nancy was a living example of grace and endurance. She was very proud of her family's rich spiritual heritage. Nancy lived a simple and full life with no regrets.
She is survived by her sister Enid Wilson, St. Cloud, her nephew, Mark Helstrom and family, her sister in law Pauline Helstrom, Aunt Deborah Wien, many cousins and spiritually adopted children. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, David and Daniel.
Sincere thanks to the caring staff at Coborn's Cancer Center and the staff at the Annandale Care Center, along with the Hospice nurses.
Memorial services will be Saturday, January 8th, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1044 County Rd. 4, in St. Cloud, MN 56303. Larry Spoden will officiate.
