Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Portia C. Chinberg, age 92 of St. Cloud who passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at St. Benedict's Senior Community. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Private interment will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (TODAY) and after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. The Rosary Sodality will pray at 4:00 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday (TODAY) at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Portia was born on September 3, 1918 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Charles and Cecelia (Barthelemy) Villaume. She married August Leister on August 26, 1939 in St. Cloud; he preceded her in death in January o f 1970. Portia later married Leo "Chief" Chinberg on September 11, 1973 in Brainerd; he preceded her in death on August 26, 1981. She was employed as a Sales Clerk by Three Sisters in St. Cloud for 25 years. Portia was a member of St. John Cantius Parish, Rosary Sodality, East Side Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4847 Auxiliary and the Rice Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her daughter, Portia "Pat" (Norm) Wachman of St. Cloud; two grandsons, Randy and Greg; and two great grandchildren, Marisa and Collin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, August Leister and Leo Chinberg; and brother, Clarence.
