A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Robert C. Schmit, 23, of St. Cloud will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel, downtown St. Cloud. Following the memorial there will be a tribute held at 10:00 p.m. at one of Robert's favorite places, the Keller Bar, at the Red Carpet. Robert passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 as a pedestrian in a pedestrian/vehicle accident.
Robert was born on July 25, 1990 in Orlando, Florida to, as Robert would say, "the infamous Sandie Capps". He graduated from Sartell High School in 2008. Robert was employed by ING/Capital One. He was also a member of the band My Vigilante Superego, playing regularly throughout the state.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his free spirited nature and his ability to make everyone smile.
He is survived by his mother, Sandie Capps of Sartell; siblings, Cassie Capps of Sartell, Russell Van Schaick of Orlando, Florida; grandmother, Diane Chirhart of St. Cloud; and many more.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Rebischke.

I never knew Robert, and I had never met him either. I met his brother once in Florida, and if he was anything like his brother, then he was an awesome young man. From readings all of the other wonderful entries, Robert seems like the happiest guy ever, and I could only hope to have met him. Remember Robert for his positive energy and great spirit. Prayers go out to Robert's family and friends, and I wish I could have been in the USA to support all of you during this time.

When people pass away, it seems like the living forget anything bad about them and only remember the good. With you, Robert, it seems THERE REALLY IS only good to remember. I don't believe that people cease to exist,or dissappear. You're not "here" anymore, but you're not done. You are too special and needed elsewhere. I'm sure you've done what you came to do in your short time. Look at all the the lives you truely touched. Your life and energy will be learned from for years to come. I'm thankful to have known you, but I'm really, really thankful for the impact you've had on everyone here because you've really made this little world a better place. You were a positive soul who was taken long before your time. I'll always remember our trip to the java joint, and how positive and kind you always were. The rest of the world could take a lesson from the way you lived your life. I wish I could've at least ran into you one more time; it's been so long! I guess that's the way it always kind of goes though. My heart breaks for your family... but everyone was lucky to have ever gotten the chance to know you. RIP Schmitty.

I only met Robert a few times when he came to my home to visit my "kids". He was a part of their large friend circle. He was so polite and always made me smile. He loved all my animals! Thank you Robert, for touching my heart.

Robert, you will forever be Obbie to me. So hard to believe this happened. Not sure it'll ever really sink in. Your body may be gone, but your amazing spirit will always be here, showing us the positive side of any situation (as you were wont to do). You lived life with the energy and passion of a 5-year-old, but the wisdom of a 75-year-old. We should all be so lucky if we meet another soul like yours on our journeys through life. I promise you, Obbie, I will try and find something positive in this (last Saturday night's show at the Keller was a start...it was amazing), because that's how you looked at the world.
