David Robert Gibson Jr.
Kittery Point, ME - David Robert Gibson Jr., 22, passed away in the early hours of Sunday May 9th, 2021. He was born September 28, 1998 in Cumberland, MD. He is originally from Cumberland, MD but resided with Steve and James Lawrence in Kittery Point, ME. He was the son to Crystal Gibson and David Gibson and to his stepmother Michelle Gibson.
David (Gibby) graduated from Traip Academy in Kittery, ME as part of the class of 2016. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 2017 to 2021 receiving an Honorable discharge as he decided to pursue civilian career fields. Throughout his life he was an accomplished athlete excelling at Football, Baseball, and snowboarding. He was selected to the 2016 Lobster Bowl in Maine after a prolific football tenure at Traip Academy. He competed in USASA Maine Snowboarding series finishing 3rd which he received an invite to USASA Nationals. He was a natural athlete that also found success while stationed in Okinawa by playing football for the Okinawa Dragons. He always made people laugh and loved to make sure they were having a great time.
David is survived by his daughter Brynlee Ann Olcott. He was a brother to Shiane Kearchner, Shawney Kearchner, Savannah Gibson, Rian Gibson, and Sidnee Gibson. He is an Uncle to Memphis Adele Spiker. He is a nephew to Tammy Kearchner and Denise Schumacher, and to Tina. He is the Grandson of Janet Kearchner, Robert and Joann Gibson of Cumberland, MD and Jan Schumacher of Deland, FL.
Services: There will be a Candlelight Memorial for him at Memorial Field on Sunday, May 16th at 5:30 PM. His funeral will be on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the J.S. Pelkey & Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road in Kittery, ME. Public viewing hours are from 12PM- 2PM with the official services after 2PM. He will be laid to rest in the First Christian Church Cemetery in Kittery Point, ME. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to Veteran Mental Health Organizations in his name.
