Edith Minicucci Obituary

NEWINGTON — Edith R. Minicucci of Newington, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in the presence of family.

She was born in Haverhill, Mass., to Dominic and Maria Rigazio.

After graduating high school she attended cosmetology school and owned a hair salon. There she met and married her husband, Gene Minicucci. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage and remained deeply devoted to each other's happiness. They lived most of their married lives in Rochester, where she and her husband owned and operated numerous businesses, including Gene's Variety Store and JJ Curtain Shop. She was a parishioner at St. Mary's Church. She and her husband raised two children there before retiring in Newington.

Edith was predeceased by her husband, Gene Minicucci, in May 2007; her infant daughter Gina; and her siblings, Lucy, Theresa, Lena, Betty, Al and Tony. She is survived by her children, Gary Michaels of Newington, and Jean Frake of Middletown, N.J.; and her grandchildren, Michael Frake of Hoboken, N.J., and Nicholas Frake of Wilmington, Del.

WE REMEMBER: Edith was a superb homemaker in an old-fashioned sense. She enjoyed cooking, and entertaining family and friends. She doted on her two grandchildren. As one of the most genuine, caring and gracious people, she will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

SERVICES: There will be no visitation hours. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester. Burial will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Brock Street, Rochester.
